In the third part of a three part series about the Thomson Reuter’s Transforming Women’s Leadership in the Law Fireside Chat, read about the advice attendees had for a fictional”Sarah”, a new partner at a BigLaw firm, who’s struggling to find a way to ask her close friend from law school to consider steering business to her. Sarah knows what she should do – after all, she now has responsibility to generate new revenue – but she’s not sure how to do that. This scenario, drawn from Carol Frohlinger’s white paper, “Business Development in the New Normal”, also dealt with the issue of what women in-house counsel can (and should!) do to help women in law firms to be successful. What Should “John” Do?
In the second part of a three part series about the Thomson Reuter’s Transforming Women’s Leadership in the Law Fireside Chat, read about the advice attendees had for a fictional “John”, head of global litigation for a Fortune 500 company, who faced a dilemma when one of his “go to” firms sent an all-white male team to pitch to his new boss. His boss, a female General Counsel, who’d asked John to initiate a review process for outside counsel, has made it clear that she values diversity and expects firms to meet her expectations in terms of demonstrating their understanding of its importance to her. John is torn between his loyalty to the firm (he’s worked with them for years!) and showing his boss that he’s heard her message. Read more here.
